Job Description:

    BCP Engineers is recruiting for four (4) Software Engineers for our client in New Orleans. This is a contract position to start ASAP for 6 months. No per diem is offered for this contract position – you must live within commuting distance of downtown New Orleans.

    Collaborates with team to design, code and test new features/Stories in accordance with the Acceptance Criteria defined by the Product Manager and in agreed upon priority order to deliver stable & functioning digital products


    1. Define product requirements • Help to breakdown Stories into Tasks/Activities • Participate in the look-ahead meetings to support Product manager with refining backlog including providing initial estimates • Develop and test prototypes through product development

     2. Deliver product in line with requirements and agile methodologies • Design, code, unit test and integrate new features and functionality in line with the acceptance criteria defined by the Product Manager and team • Use Agile engineering practices and various software and web development technologies to rapidly develop creative and efficient solutions that enhance the product • Build front-/back-end engineering of stable, smoothly functioning digital products • Proactively take on challenging problems and effectively collaborate with people inside and outside the digital unit

    3. Take the lead in risk mitigation • Perform various investigative tasks called "Spikes" in order to mitigate technical uncertainty and risk • Ensure completion of any required documentation e.g. deployment, maintenance, support and business needs • Take the lead in discussing technical solutions and product ideas in design reviews, pair programming, and code reviews

    4. Shared Accountabilities and collaborations • Shares accountability with product manager for refining the product backlog and estimate the Epics and Stories based on defined acceptance criteria and definition of done • Participates in peer code reviews to ensure code quality and transfer of knowledge

    5. Key Performance Indicators • Deliver high quality of products • Achieve scheduled fidelity milestones

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Minimum education required of the position

    • Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other relevant analytical discipline preferred)

    • Minimum experience required of the position

    • 5+ years’ experience in software development, with knowledge of Agile software development, ideally experience with design/UX driven environments Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

    • Proficiency in PC Windows environment (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

    OTHER ATTRIBUTES Functional Knowledge

    • Experience with pair programming, continuous integration, test-driven development & incremental design

    • Familiarity with Model View Controller (MVC) design patterns, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and development best practices

    • Proficiency in 3+ of: Java, REST API services, iOS, Python, Android native applications, SQL, NoSQL, Cocoa/ CocoaTouch, Swift and Objective-C, XCode, UIKit, Core AnimationFluency

    • Drives adherence to quality standards of work Business Expertise

    • Embodies the values and culture of the Agile transformation process Leadership

    • Helps to ensure other team members are not impeded and helps to clear dependencies Problem Solving

    • Strong analytical skills
