Providing data communications consulting services to companies that have local area and wide area
networking challenges. Services include communications neeeds analysis, implementation planning, and
problem analysis.
Cabletron Systems Regional Manager, 3/97 to 10/97
As the Regional Manager of Support my responsibilities included staffing, managing, and coordinating 20
presales engineers and post sales field engineers whose primary responsibilities include sales support and
customer support for the New England region.
- Provided direct support to the sales force on key accounts in the
region.
- Moved the regional sales and service office from corporate
headquarters in Rochester, NH to the newly established regional
office in Andover, MA. Designed the facility, directed purchasing
and coordinated the build-out of the regional demonstration facility
in Andover.
- Reengineered the support organization for a vertical alignment of
the presales engineers to mirror the sales force. Also established
product/technology specialists to focus on the most complex and
challenging products.
Bay Networks Sr. Product Manager 1996 to 1997
Responsible for the success of Bay Network's ASN Router.
- Managed all aspects of Bay Networks' mid-range router including ,
market research, competitive analysis, product positioning, margin
analysis, sales promotions, product announcements, and product
enhancements, which produced $112 million in annual revenue.
- Conceived and successfully managed three product extensions to the ASN router which included the
Dual T1/PRI network module, the E1/PRI network module, and the Quad Synchronous network
module.
- Presented Bay Network's corporate product strategy in the Pacific
Rim semi-anually.
Electronic Data Systems PCD Manager 1992 to 1996
Responsible for the planning and operation of EDS PCD's data
communications network. Managed a staff of network engineers
responsible for the planning and maintenance of this mission critical,
high availability network consisting of bridges, routers, T1
multiplexers, multiple Vax clusters, Unix workstations and Novel
file servers.
- Planned and implemented a disaster recovery plan for a client's
network consisting of routers, dial access, and switched T1 service.
- Created the draft WEB implementation and procedures manual for the
entire organization.
- Redesigned the Router network for a secure WEB implementation.
- Created an RFP and selected network and hardware vendors for a
Frame Relay service offering.
Electronic Data Systems PCD Network Engineer 1992 to 1994
- Designed and implemented TCP/IP networks for EDS PCD customers. Transitioned most customers
from bridged Decnet and LAT environments.
- Planned and implemented a disaster recovery plan for a clientÕs network consisting of routers, dial
access, and switched T1 service.
- Planned and implemented a TCP/IP network for Cellular One in Puerto Rico.
StrataCom Inc. Applications Engineer 1990 to 1991
- Responsible for technical presentations and network designs for
T1 based fast packet networks.
- Designed, proposed and implemented a T1 based Fastpacket voice and
data network for Digital Equipment Corporation.
- Proposed and implemented the first Frame Relay network in Boston at
the Boston Globe.
Amnet Inc. Network Consultant 1987 to 1990
- Responsible for all proposals, corporate presentations, trade shows,
and training of resellers.
- Authored a proposal that won a contract with IBM for development of
a PC based packet switch with a value of over ten million dollars to
Amnet Inc.
- Authored and presented a white paper on Packet Switching at Interex,
the Hewlett Packard national users group meeting.
- Key speaker at a national seminar series on packet switching for
Amnet Inc.
Case Communications Systems Engineer 1985 to 1987
- Responsible for sales support including presentations, network
design, and proposal preparation for the New England region.
- Designed, proposed, and assisted in the close on the sale of a
mission critical multiplexer backbone network for Home Owners Savings
and Loan Association valued at over $2 million.
- Designed, proposed, and closed a deal with Polaroid Corporation to
implement a corporate wide data network valued at $1 million.
Paradyne Corp. Systems Engineer 1983 to 1985
As one of two systems engineers, I supported the sales effort for the
New England Region. This included presentations, demonstrations, and
proposal development.
- Assisted in the sale of over $1 million of modems and network
management systems to six accounts in the state of Vermont in one
fiscal year.
Paradyne Corp. Account Executive 1981 to 1983
Covering a portion of Massachusetts, sold data communications equipment
to commercial accounts.
Paradyne Corp. Technical Support 1978 to 1981
In this role, I provided implementation and support services to
customers in New England.
- Coordinated and supported the installation of nationwide data
networks at John Hancock Insurance Company, The New England Company,
Connecticut General Life, and Vermont National Life.
