   Data Analyst; SQL Coder: May, 2005 – Present

• Data Analyst (NFS): Analyzed and mapped securities-related customer, account, balance, position, transaction, bookkeeping and suitability data between Fidelity’s National Financial Services (NFS) and Sungard’s proprietary broker compliance monitoring application. 
• SQL Coder: Implementing data exchange solutions in T-SQL stored procedures and DTS; parsing, translating, merging and moving NFS, Beta, Pershing and proprietary data feeds into Sungard’s SQL Server 2000 analysis database.  Proposed and built generic front end for receiving NFS data that provides 95% reusability for future NFS feeds.  Coded customized import, trade, exception and report defect fixes and enhancements; optimized procedures for runtime minimization.  Also modified some client-side ASP, VBScript, C#, HTML.
• Release Coordinator: Twice assembled 75-100 geographically-, developer- and functionally-disparate files for successful testing and release packages to a major client using Visual Source Safe and DTS.  Smooth first release was factor in sale of second phase.  Also coordinated many smaller releases.

   Sr. Project Manager, Lead Specifications Analyst: March, 2004 – March, 2005

• Project Manager: successfully led fluid team of five local analysts, designers and testers with secondary responsibility for ten offshore (India) developers building shrink-wrapped business application in VB.NET and SQL Server 2000.  Multi-million dollar budget over two years; responsible for all SDLC phases, deliverable standards, project planning (MS Project 2003) and team communication.  Coordinated hardware and software assessments and acquisition, onshore team member interviews and hiring, and deliverable timing in fast-paced environment where team members averaged 70 hours per week. 
• Lead Specifications Analyst; Data Analyst; QA: Developed Software Requirements and Detailed Design/ Functional Specification processes and templates from multiple sources including IEEE. Led team of five analysts who used these to elicit and document over 1500 pages of requirements and detailed design.  The specifications spanned nine distinct subsystems and served as a solid foundation for class and data models.  Forward engineered over 125 tables and 1200 data elements and definitions from Word, Excel and SQL Server 2000 into ERwin.  Secondary role in QA support; used Rational RequisitePro, TestManager and ClearQuest.

R.S. Means Company, Inc. - Kingston, MA (contract)

Sr. Project Manager, Sr. Systems Analyst; Sr. Data Analyst: June, 1998 – Nov., 2003 Lead roles on four major projects: (1) Reduced distribution costs by 80%, enabled instantaneous core data update by converting VB 6/MS Access shrink-wrapped costing tool to ASP.NET/VB.NET 2003 and SQL Server 2000. (2) Reduced processing time from days to seconds by leading eight-phase migration of Ingres/character-based construction cost tracking and prediction system to VB 6.0 / SQL Server 7.0.  This data is R.S. Means' core business. (3) Led analysis and architecture; managed project for building a third-party, shrink-wrapped project cost and parameters tracking system. (4) Led OOA/D; class architect; wrote XML export scripts for core database supporting web/internet access.

• Requirements Analysis; Design: defined business requirements and functional specifications for new construction cost system, shrink-wrapped tracking and cost systems; IEEE SRS.  Rapid prototyped User Interfaces using VB.NET, VB 6.0 and MS Access; iterative user-review approach. Designed overarching flow and standards; subsystem-specific features.
• Data Analysis: identified, named, defined and modeled 1200 data elements in 100 tables using ERwin; mapped new/existing data for upload; built data dictionary; UML.
• Coding: converted VB 6 and MS Access system to ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000; complex CURSOR and OUTPUT data exchange, validation and integrity confirmation scripts and stored procedures totaling more than 15,000 lines of SQL code.
• Quality Assurance/Testing: wrote test plans; led testing of over 25 major and point releases and Means’ premier insurance industry cost valuator; led defect assessment and prioritization; designed, built and implemented defect tracking database in Access.
• Database Administration: DBA responsibility for SQL Server backups and restores, job scheduling and reporting, user/role security configuration, DTS and SQL scripting.

• Analyzed and defined client requirements for sharing Accounting and Project Management data (round trip) between MS Excel and MS Project.  Built three VBA macros to import and export actual and projected costs and work hours, including timescaled data; wrote user guides.
