Contract technical writer, Vanguard Managed Solutions, Inc., Mansfield,
MA. Using Framemaker and Visio to update system administration and user
manuals for telephony products.

Aug. 2004 to September 2004

Contract technical writer, Citizens Bank, Cranston, RI. Used Word, Visio,
and Front Page to document complex IP networks.

3/04 to 7/04:

Contract technical writer, Advanced Business Technologies, Inc., Marstons
Mills, MA. Documented a sales force automation (sfa) product for a laptop.
This involved documenting changes involved in converting the product from
OS/2 to UNIX. Using RoboHELP and Word, created an on-line User Guide and
on-line Help. Using Word, created a Software Installation Guide, a Quick
Tour, a Readme document, and an on-line Readme file.

9/01 to 3/02:

Contract technical writer, MCK Communications, Inc, Needham, MA. Used
Framemaker(with conditionalized text) and Word to document system
administration and quick start-up manuals for telephony products. Edited
and corrected existing Acrobat .pdf files.

9/00 to 1/01:

Contract technical writer, McKesson Health Solutions, Marlboro, MA. Used Framemaker, 
PowerPoint and Word to document system administration and training material for a 
proprietary health-care system.

6/00 to 9/00:
Contract technical writer, EMC Corporation (Data General), Westborough, MA. Used 
Framemaker to document a new tape storage device and new tape storage management 
software.

1/00 to 6/00:
Contract technical writer, GTECH, W. Warwick, RI. Used Framemaker and RoboHELP to document a proprietary Sybase-based lottery management system for system administrators and end users. 

11/99 to 12/99:

Contract technical writer, McKesson Health Solutions, Marlboro, MA. Used Framemaker, PowerPoint and Word to document training material for a proprietary health-care system.

6/99 to 10/99:

Contract technical writer, GTECH, W. Greenwich, RI. Used Framemaker and RoboHELP to document a proprietary Sybase-based lottery management system for system administrators and end users. 

4/99 to 6/99:
Contract technical writer, Opus Telecom, Framingham, MA. Used Framemaker and RoboHELP on Windows NT to document a user manual and online Help for a sophisticated prison telephone control system.

Contract technical writer, Brite Voice Systems, Canton, MA. Used Framemaker to document telephony system administration guide and a site-planning guide for system administrators and end users.

Contract technical writer, The Foxboro Company, Foxboro, MA. Used Framemaker to document an Oracle-based document/drawing library.

Previously, used RoboHELP on Windows NT to create on-line Help for a powerful automatic system configurator tool.

2/96 to 4/96:
Contract technical writer, Digital Equipment Corporation, Shrewsbury, MA. Used Word on Windows 95 and Windows NT to document the Software Installation Guide for Mediaplex, an advanced video-on-demand distribution database. Also aided in the completion of the Software Configuration Guide.

8/95 to 12/95:
Contract technical writer, Advanced Business Technologies, Inc., Marstons Mills, MA. 
Documented a sales force automation (sfa) product for a laptop. Using Hyperwise and Word, created an on-line User Guide and on-line Help. Using Word, created a Software Installation Guide, a Quick Tour, a Readme document, and an on-line Readme file. Also taught a Word class.

6/94 to
8/95:
Contract technical writer, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Bellingham, MA. 
Documented OSHA and EPA safety procedures and computer backup procedures for a power plant using Microsoft Word. Performed all formatting and production.

1/94 to
6/94:
Performed editing and Framemaker and Word production for Techniscribe, Inc., Dedham, MA. Production work included designing tags, converting (importing) different formats into Framemaker and Microsoft Word documents, and all other steps involved in final camera-ready production. Work was performed on both an IBM PC and a MAC. Created styles and performed all formatting and production.

1988 to
1993:
Stratus Computer, Inc., Marlboro, MA. Technical writer.

Project-led a group in developing software and hardware documentation for a new minicomputer. Documentation included site Planning Guides, customer-replaceable power supplies, disk, tape drive, and board installation/replacement, and software configuration 
instructions. At management's request, developed a new, easier-to-read format.


Wrote UNIX system administration manuals that explained numerous commands, device configuration, and electronic mail administration.


Wrote administrator's guide and end-user's guide for two releases of Office/2000, an office automation suite that provides a word processor, calendar, and electronic mail facility.

1982 to
1988:
Honeywell Information Systems, Inc. (now BULL), Billerica, MA. Technical writer.

As lead writer, produced numerous office automation manuals on word and image processing and sophisticated macros.

Consulted in the design and creation of on-line help.

1980 to
1982:
Contract technical writer.

Wrote end-user documentation for Massachusetts Electric, Commercial Union Insurance, and Honeywell Information Systems, Inc.
