Senior Architect

§      Evaluation and full development life cycle engagement of a Mutual Fund Management and Revenue Aggregation system for Wachovia.  Responsible for defining business requirements with the business owners, architecting the system, data architecture, technical client relationships, data migration, and the complete design and build of the database.  The system was built using Java, Oracle, Informatica, and Siebel Analytics.

§      Led the architecture, database design, data analysis, and data governance for an aggregated central holdings database for Columbia Management.  Responsible for defining the business requirements, architecting the system, database design, data profiling, data analysis, and data governance process of the system.  The system was built using Oracle BI, Netezza, and Ab Initio.

§      Responsible for data analysis, load performance enhancements, process improvement, and development of a CRM system for Bank of America.  This system, which manages personal banking and investment account data on one platform, was built utilizing Oracle and Siebel.

§           This business-critical, automated pharmaceutical lab project is revolutionizing how this pharmaceutical company performs drug testing, using robotics and software, by automating a totally manual process.

§           Served as the Project Leader for the main controller component that managed and monitored the entire automated lab system.

Solutions Architect – Marsh – Insurance Data Mart – Consulting Assignment

§           Data warehousing and reporting project. The project objective was to leverage the centralized data warehouse to support the regional office's needs related to analyzing revenues, premiums and aged receivables.

§           Led the gathering of the technical requirements and the design of the test and production environments.

§           Served as the team member leading the database development, the systems testing, uncovering data issues, and recommending solutions to support the business and technical requirements.

Software Architect Consultant, Data Warehouse and Campaign Management System – Consulting Assignment

§           Led the architecture, design and development of converting a packaged Unix-based data warehouse to Windows 2000. The information-based marketing system has numerous supporting applications and is being implemented globally. Technology included Solaris, Oracle 8i, SQL Server 2000, VB, SQL, and Korn Shell.

§           Led the analysis, architecture, design, and development of Marketing Campaign Management System that can be configured to run on top of any data warehouse within the global AIG firm. Technologies include VB, Oracle 8i, Korn Shell, and SQL Server 2000.

§           Responsible for full project life cycle from requirements and design through QA and deployment. Developed project plans, project schedules, documentation, system architecture, and source code while performing code reviews, developer management, and design documents for developers.

Architect Engineer, Strategic Advisors Inc. Group – Portfolio Management Systems – Consulting Assignment

§           Responsible for performing a technical audit of the 30+ disparate applications produced by the group. This included a critical assessment of the inefficiencies of the applications, developing a new system architecture, meeting with the business users to gather business requirements, designing application enhancements, and resolving process flow issues.

§           Responsible for the design and development of a portfolio management application using VB, ASP, XML, XSLT, COM, and Sybase. This system is used to manage the department’s high-profile clients.

4/99 – 5/01            iXL/Tessera Enterprise Systems, Wakefield, MA

Solutions Architect - Sales Force Automation, CRM, and Order Entry System

§           Performed as the Technical Team Lead, System Architect, and a Lead Business Analyst of a 12-person team that designed and developed a sales force automation, CRM, and order entry system.

§           This multi-tier system was built using Siebel 2000, VB, and Oracle 8i.

Solutions Architect - Merchandise Returns and Logistics System

§           Led a 10-person team that designed and developed a web site for customers to return products on the web. This system was integrated into the web sites of retail merchants to provide seamless return functionality for customers of the particular merchants.

§           This multi-tier system was built using ASP, VB, Oracle 8i and Lawson.

Solutions Architect - Operational Data Store/Data Warehouse – National Transportation Data

§           Led the design and development of a two-terabyte data warehouse. This system extracted, transformed, and loaded 20 gigabytes of data from the data warehouse to an ODS daily. The system runs on SGI Irix and was developed using Oracle, Korn Shell scripts, and C.

§           Designed and developed in Unix/C++ a detailed algorithm that determined a vehicle’s status (new, used, in-use, junked, etc.) and history from a national vehicle registration database.

§           Designed/Led development of a metadata-driven, production-quality job control system. Important features include job dependencies and load-balanced execution.

§           Led a team of developers who designed and developed a web application for governing marketing campaigns. Also served as the business analyst on the project. This system was built using Apache Web Server, Oracle Application Server, JSP, and JavaBeans.

Senior Software Engineer – Data Warehouse – Insurance

§           Led a team that designed and developed a CRM data warehouse system that receives feeder files from various legacy systems, loads and transforms the data into the warehouse, utilizes cubes and OLAP tools to generate reports, and finally, emails the data to individual users.

§           Responsibilities included designing the load process using parallel processing and data warehousing techniques, writing PL/SQL to transform the data, and designing and developing the cube, report, and email generation system. The system was built using Oracle 8i running on a 12 processor Sun Solaris machine, C, PL/SQL, Korn Shell, Informatica, Cognos PowerPlay, and Visual Basic.

2/99 – 6/99            Putnam Investments, Braintree, MA

Database Technical Lead - Mutual Fund and Cash Reconciliation System – Consulting Assignment

§           Responsibilities included designing the database, developing the PL/SQL for transforming and loading the data into the database, writing algorithms for matching the reconciliation records, stored procedure and package development, database optimization, and supporting the data access of the web based GUI.

§           The system utilizes Oracle 8.0.5 running on a Sun Solaris machine.

2/99 – 6/99            Municipal Management Inc., Marlboro, MA

Technical Lead, Municipal Tax Management Application – Consulting Assignment

§           System replaced an existing mainframe application that supported municipals’ real estate and personal property tax transactions, delinquency tracking, and bill printing.

§           Responsibilities included designing the system architecture, development of the online system (web site, application server, and database), and managing the efforts of four developers.

§           This system was built as a three-tier, client/server system using VB 6.0, COM, ADO 2.0, ActiveX, Microsoft Transaction Server, and SQL Server 7.0. The web-based front-end was developed using MS Internet Information Server, ASP, VBScript, and JavaScript.

6/98 – 2/99            Longview Group, Inc., Boston, MA

Technical Lead - Portfolio Management and Trading Systems – Consulting Assignment

§           Responsibilities included business analysis, system architecture, database design, stored procedure development and optimization, ActiveX server and component development (including a Blotter Database Refresh Engine), and GUI development.

§           This system was built using VB 6.0, SQL Server 6.5, Sybase System 11, ADO 2.0, and numerous ActiveX third-party components.

1/94 – 6/98            Edgewater Technology, Inc., Wakefield, MA

Senior Engineer/Technical Lead - Enterprise Supply Chain System

§           Performed the business analysis, system architecture, development of the CRM system, and managed the efforts of ten developers. Additionally served as the main point of contact for all database related issues as they pertained to application development and tuning, including stored procedure development (PL/SQL), query optimization, reporting, and data analysis.

§           The Customer Service System is a three-tier, client/server system that functions as an online transaction application using VB 5.0, VC 5.0, ATL, DCOM, ADO 1.5, ActiveX, Microsoft Transaction, and an Oracle 7.3 database on a Sun Solaris machine. System has a Web based front end, in addition to the VB front end, using MS Internet Information Server, Active Server Pages, VBScript, and JavaScript.

§           C++ was used to develop the Unix-based processes for order entry, billing, fulfillment, etc. Information World recognized this application as the 15th of the Top 100 IT Innovators for 1998.

Senior Engineer/Technical Lead – United States Postal Service – Logistics System

§           This client/server system was developed using an Oracle 7.1 database on Windows NT. The front end was written in C++, utilizing MFC and Crystal Reports API.

§           Responsibilities: designing the logical and physical database design, designing the GUI, designing the system architecture, developing numerous stored procedures (PL/SQL), performing numerous database administration processes, management of four team members, and developing several key object-oriented, front-end components.

Senior Engineer/Technical Lead – International Order Entry, Material Planning and Logistics System

§           This order entry, materials planning, and shipping system provided an international garment manufacturer with MRP capabilities in Hong Kong, Korea, Columbus, Ohio, and Newburyport, MA. Built with PowerBuilder 4.0, Microsoft Visual C++, and MS SQL Server 6.0 (data replication between Hong Kong and Newburyport), this two-tiered, 200 user client/server system received a 1996 Windows World Nomination award for best new manufacturing system, and was showcased by Bill Gates in November 1995 at the Wang Center for its innovative use of new NT/SQL Server features. The application has also been featured in MASS High Tech and DATAMATION magazines.

§           Responsible for the application’s client architecture, designing system architecture, developing stored procedures, and conducting business analysis with the client.

Engineer, Network Operation Management System

§           This system provided the U.S. Postal Service with a logistical command center during high-volume holiday shipping seasons. The system encompassed all aspects of logistical support from command console and workstations to decision support functionality for logistics optimization.

§           The system has been featured in several industry publications, and has been showcased by the Vice President of the United States and the Post Master General on several network news programs.

§           Responsibilities included design of the GUI interface, analysis, and application development. This client-server system was written using C++, MFC, CTI, and accessing MS SQL Server.
