7/00 – Present    Iron Mountain - Boston, MA
Independent Consultant / Principal Engineer
- Developed a standard java-based database maintenance application using the NetBeans IDE, JRUN4, JSP, JSP, Javascript, and Sql Server 2000.
- Responsible for introducing programming staff to Microsoft .NET technology, organizing product training, and implementing the group’s first .Net application server. Designed and developed the Sales Lead Processing prototype application using .NET as the underlying platform. This application combines an ASP.NET front-end with a web services lead processing engine and Sql Server 2000 back-end. Developed WAP access to the leads engine using Mobile Internet Toolkit and the Openwave SDK.
- Served as System Architect on Iron Mountain’s Siebel SFA 7.04 and Siebel SFA 7.5.3 implementations. Designed server topology and synchronized system backup routines. Served as the lead person in the scrubbing and preparation of legacy data for import into the new Siebel database.
- Web Systems Architect, Project Manager, and Lead Developer responsible for redesigning the company's Internet web site as an integrated, database-driven, multi-language marketing and customer service vehicle that is both internationalized and localized. Responsible for conceptual and technical design including platform selection, software tool selection, database design, I/O methodology, web site 'state' approach, and international character set support scheme. Designed and currently coding a back-end content-management site using Windows 2000, Sql Server 2000, and ASP. Additional responsibilities include interfacing with business project sponsors to assist in the development of functional specifications, evaluating Cisco and F5 load balancing products, implementing a web stress-testing environment, and leading the QA process.
- Web Systems Architect and Developer responsible for re-architecting critical keyword search functionality of an Extranet
web site servicing 150 major accounts. Coded ASP and MTS Activex COM components, redesigned Sql Server 7.0 full-text search
methodology resulting in significantly improved system capability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Designed and independently developed the Intranet Timekeeper Application as a budgeting and cost-analysis tool for senior management. The application was designed and developed within five weeks utilizing ASP, MTS, Sql Server 7.0, stored procedures and Data Transformation Services (DTS). This back-end application is supporting 200+ production users and provides three-tiered security, electronic timecard, ASP-initiated DTS extract, a set of administrative functions, and online reporting.
3/98 – 7/00    TAC Worldwide Companies - Newton, MA
Consultant
- Senior Technical Architect responsible for mapping the Company’s technical approach to Internet-related application development and integration. Technical Architect and Project Manager responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the Tacworks System. Tacworks is a three-tiered ASP/ MTS / Sql Server 7 / Internet-based application that is the requisitioning and invoicing system-of-record for TAC’s largest customer. This system processes 4M in weekly invoices and contributes several million dollars in revenue to TAC. The system was conceived, designed, developed, and implemented in 12 weeks leveraging pre-built objects and re-usable code.
- Architect, Project Manager, and team developer of a set of three-tiered enterprise-level Internet recruiting web site applications utilizing MS NT, IIS, MTS, ASP, Visual Basic, Sql Server 6.5, and stored procedures. Responsible for conceptual, functional, technical, database, and security designs as well as coding ASP, Activex DLL’s, stored procedures. This set of web sites have been in production since 1/99 and have contributed directly to a significant increase in company revenue while automating previously manual business processes. The applications were developed on-time and under budget.
- Coded and implemented an Intranet Forum web site that allows Staff to access downloaded Internet news. This application includes an automated news download that supports both Pop3 and NNTP protocols. Tools utilized include Microsoft NT, ASP, ASPMAIL, and ASPNNTP ServerObject components.
4/95 – 3/98    QCC Inc. - Westwood, MA
Senior Developer, Project Manager, and Director of Consulting Services
- Responsible for architecting, developing, and implementing client server systems for multiple customers. Leveraged detail knowledge of multiple platforms including IBM Mainframe, IBM AS/400, and Microsoft NT to design, code, and deliver cross-platform solutions.
- Managed the development and implementation of a call-accounting telephony system that currently services 90+ telephone representatives. This system makes extensive use of ODBC API calls from Visual Basic to provide extremely fast response time to end-users engaged in conversations with customers.
- Designed and coded an Intranet Sales Reporting application utilizing Microsoft NT, Internet Information Server, SQL Server, Visual Interdev, Active Server Pages, HTML, and Crystal Reporting.
- Designed, coded, and implemented the company's telephony call accounting application utilizing Powerbuilder 4.0, SQL Anywhere Database, Windows Communication Manager, Windows API, and a Toshiba PBX.
- Designed coded, and implemented Accounts Receivable and Internal Reporting Applications utilizing Visual Basic, OLE Automation, low-level ODBC calls as a high-performance I/O technique, Windows API, Sheridan Objects, Crystal Reporting, IBM Client Access middleware, and Microsoft Access Database.
- Designed and coded a Powerbuilder 5.0 prototype application that serves as an interface between a legacy PB application and the Davox/Unison telephony product. This application implements Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) to manage messaging between the Unison server and the legacy Powerbuilder application.
3/91 - 4/95    The Boston Company - Medford, MA
Senior Consultant
- Developed the Global Securities Lending Reporting Application utilizing Powerbuilder 3.0 and Watcom SQL. Designed and coded the Time Entry component of the PACE Project utilizing Visual Basics 3.0, Microsoft Access OLE Automation, and VBA. Constructed multiple functions in an employee and consultant hourly reporting system for senior management using Powerbuilder 2.0 and XDB 3.0. Converted the completed system fromPowerbuilder 2.0 to Powerbuilder 3.0.
- Served in lead role for the development, testing, and installation of the Trust Department Funds Project. This was the company's most important and expansive project involving the development of a new Cash Ledger System.
- Supervised various development efforts, coordinated user acceptance testing, coded, implemented and supported several new online and batch COBOL functions.
Senior Programmer Analyst
- Coded, tested, implemented and supported the online settlement/unsettlement/reversal functions of the Currency Movements Project. This effort provided an automated means of transferring client funds in a given currency across differing bank locations. Built an online background task to update mainframe files with foreign exchange rates originating on a remote P.C. node.
- Individually responsible for enhancement, testing, installation, and support of the Demand Note Accrual Project. This effort included online and batch programming and heavy communication with a variety of user groups. The project provided CMS with the ability to calculate and pay monthly accruals on client holdings in Short Term Investment Vehicles.
3/87 - 3/91    Fidelity Investments - Boston, MA
Acting Project Leader
- Fidelity Participant Record-keeping System, (FPRS). Served as the lead Fidelity Systems representative in the development and testing of the Load Tracking Project. Played lead role in interviewing, selecting, and training a vendor team to bring load tracking functionality to the FPRS mutual fund system. Co-led the project with specific responsibilities that included system modification design, mapping the project schedule, and coding many of the project's key COBOL components.
- Directed a team of programmers in the enhancement of FPRS. Prepared functional and technical designs for development projects; supervised, trained, and assisted six consultants, senior and junior programmers; interfaced with and prepared presentations for the user community. Conducted technical interviews of prospective employees. Led projects that involved enhancing dividend accrual processing, production of customer statements, and production of customer investment result sheets.
Senior Programmer/Analyst
- Led a team of four senior level programmers in the development of automated investment result sheets. Produced functional and technical designs, coded multiple new on-line programs, wrote new and modified JCL, created new on-line VSAM files, directed the programming team through all phases of the project, and trained the user groups with regard to new on-line and batch functionality.
Programmer/Analyst
- Individually designed, coded, tested and successfully implemented a new hourly pricing sub-system for FPRS select funds. This project involved extensive CICS programming with regard to telephone exchange processing, heavy batch coding, and system testing. The project resulted in the installation of 140+ programming modules and provided FPRS with the ability to handle multiple telephone exchange transactions contingently.

- Designed, coded, tested, and implemented the Welcome Letter enhancement. This projected involved on-line and batch coding as well as user interfacing. Resolved maintenance items and provided production support.
