Objective:
Seeking software development projects on the MS Windows Platform (95/98/2000/NT), which can be done via telecommute on contract basis.

                                        Experience:

1993 to 2000
Database Design and Development
GIS Software Development
Systems Programmer developing "RoadSoft, Integrated Roadway Management System."

Technology Development Group
Michigan Technological University
Houghton, Michigan

Was a pioneer in the design and development of Michigan's Roadway Management System.  Saw RoadSoft through many cycles of its still productive life-cycle, which preserved The Michigan Department of Transportation's Legacy Data and brought it together with the Michigan State Police's Annual Crash Data for Roadway management and crash reporting purposes.

RoadSoft is still the standard Roadway Management System in Michigan, and is now  used by Michigan's counties, cities and Law Enforcement Agencies (for its crash reporting capabilities).

Database design and development using Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, Visual C++; System tool development using C++ and FORTRAN; ActiveX Control development using Visual Basic and VC++.  Wrote custom parsers and preprocessors in C and C++.

Developed GIS software using Visual Basic, Access and MapObjects.

1994 to 1995
Visual C++ Software Development
.Systems Programmer developing Version 1.0 of the "LTAP News CD"

Local Technical Assistance Program
Michigan Technological University
Houghton, Michigan

The LTAP News CD is an archive of all of the United State's LTAP's (Local Technical Assistance Program) quarterly newsletters, Tribal quarterly newsletters, and technical bulletins, both image and text, all stored in electronic form.

The LTAP News CD features:

State-of-the-Art Search Functions

Information search is provided in two ways.

By Topic
Unlike databases that use keywords to reference information, LTAP News searches all the words contained in the archive's text files. This feature provides a comprehensive search that makes information retrieval amazingly productive.

Search By Publication
LTAP News is an "electronic file cabinet". You can zero in on the publications of an individual center or browse through the publications of all the centers.

I created the user interface using Visual C++, and designed the internal interface for the modified B+ Tree (also written using Visual C++) which was the heart of our very high-performance search engine.

Notes

I have two computers networked on Ethernet 10 base T. My server is running NT 2000 Advanced Server, and my client is running Windows 98.
Both computers have removable drive bays, which makes it easy for me to customize my system for working on special problems or duplicating environments.
All of my software is current and belongs to me, obtained via my Microsoft Developer Network Universal Subscription.
