  • Designed, trained and documented a variant configuration solution for Thermo’s Winsford plant in SAP version 4.7
  • Built a fully maintainable system that allows users to create more complex variant structures in the future should the need arise, without consultant intervention
  • Developed naming conventions for all applicable VC objects such that the each plant or business unit can share, but not have conflicting VC structures
  • Built templates into VC such that objects and rules can be re-used and/or copied to ease maintenance
  • Drove business to clean up ambiguous product rules to enhance usability and benefits of SAP’s Variant Configuration
  • As VC can be difficult both to train and understand, developed user documentation specific to complex dependency syntax demonstrating examples of most efficient and less efficient dependency syntax to achieve the same result.  Documented syntax not yet required in anticipation of future requirements

  • The project replaces multiple legacy systems with a global design in Quote to Contract, Bill of Material and Engineering Change Management with one SAP R/3 Version 4.7
  • Project Phases: business blueprint, requirements gathering in the US and Europe, conceptual design, configuration, training preparation, functional specifications for customer reports and data conversion and user acceptance testing.
  • SAP Skills Used: Customer master, material master, quote and contract management and pricing

·         Responsible for SD design that benefited Visteon by enabling a business and system process for processing change requests (even though there is no SAP integration between ECM and SD modules) This included:

§         Assessed and discarded the requirement to use Variant Configuration

§         Quote management: single point of entry for all customer quotes, analysis of lost quotes, analysis of elements of the customer price and the Visteon cost of quoted materials, integration of quote management and the change management process

§         Contract management: A contract price master for product changes, component changes, precious metal content changes and year on year productivity changes

§         Linkage of OEM and Service contracts to enable consistent application of changes to both lines of the business

§         Configured an automatic SAP standard solution for periodic price changes for materials with precious metal content which is a time and cost saving operation for Visteon

§         Enabled EDI and manual customer PO entry and comparison of customer expected price.  Designed custom report for analysis of Visteon and customer expected price differences which aides Visteon in resolving disputes with customers

Sony Computer and Perphiphals and Components (CPCE)

·         The project replaced the legacy system for CPCE business with SAP 4.6c across Europe in ten months

·         Roll out of Sony’s heavily developed Phoenix SAP to a business that included: 17 outsourced plants (5 EDI), centralised customer service, order to cash,  procurement and logistics

·         Project Phases: conceptual design, configuration, data conversion, test, conversion and go live support. Conducted training, wrote design documents, user manuals and user procedures.  Supported go live environment to 25 users

·         SAP Skills Used: Designed and configured organizational structures, order management, customer master, material master, pricing, rebates, variant configuration, credit management, billing, output, batch programs, duty management, some VAT, order fulfilment, and delivery processing

·         Designed the CPCE “Pull Process” which was unique to Sony, which included elements of Self Billing, EDI Order Creation, design of custom programs and change management

·         SAP Skills Used: Designed and configured organizational structures, order to cash, contract management, customer master, make to order processing, order fulfillment and some delivery processing.  This included an order/contract management set up of over 100 sales document types to enable the Xerox business to operate with its complex business model including a commissionaire organization structure,  leasing, rental, service sales, and equipment sales

·         Designed variant configuration for all Xerox products and developed a variant configuration template to ease creation of future variant bills of material

·         Designed a contract and billing solution using variant configuration, resource related billing, pricing, equipment master, serial number updates and service orders to facilitate the servicing and consumable usage of leased/rented photo-copiers to Xerox’s large customer base

 

Bristol Myers-Squibb Order to Cash SAP Implementation

·         The project was a global implementation of the order to cash cycle within Bristol Myers Squibb (3.1H) with an initial roll out in the United Kingdom in June 1998 followed by rollouts in Italy, France and Germany for February 1999

·         Responsible for the design and configuration of SAP R/3 for all aspects of Order Management for United Kingdom implementation.  Integrated Order Management design with existing FI/CO, MM and PP design

·         Successfully implemented and supported June 1998 UK implementation

·         Conducted on site GAP analysis as the SD team lead for the design, construction and configuration for the roll out of Italy, France and Germany

·         Project Phases: was SD team lead of 3 through conceptual design, configuration, test, data conversion and go live support. Conducted training, wrote design documents, user manuals and user procedures using PWC’s methodology.  Supported go live environment to 20 users
