In this senior technology leadership role, delivered high profile engagements at large enterprise customers involving architecture design of BI/DW/DB/SOA solutions, contributing to pre-sales efforts including RFI/RFP responses, CxO level presentations, thought-leadership for SQL/BI communities, mentoring and guidance to consultants, etc.

This position was a senior leadership role providing strategy consulting for Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, collaboration portals (such as SharePoint) and business process integration initiatives.  Worked with CxO and V.P. level senior management of large U.S. customers on strategic assessment and roadmap projects providing advisory SME assistance in multiple areas, impacting long term decisions surrounding key BI/DW platforms and solutions.

AVANADE (A joint venture of Accenture and Microsoft, Seattle, WA (6/2005 – 9/2006)
Senior Solutions Architect and Practice Manager – Business Intelligence Practice
In this technology consulting company served as the key SME leader in the BI/DW practice:
•	Customer Project Delivery – As Senior Architect drove the creation of BI solutions from envisioning and architecture/design thru technical development and implementation, usually on multiple customer projects simultaneously.  Architected and delivered various BI solutions involving complex OLAP databases/cubes, ETL pumps, scorecards, dashboards and reports, as well as strategic CTO advisory assessments and roadmaps.
•	Team Management and Thought Leadership – Served as the BI practice manager for the Seattle area driving the pipeline, revenue estimates and resource planning and recruiting.  Managed the team of BI consultants with quality delivery and high customer satisfaction, and provided career guidance and mentoring.  Empowered the Americas BI practice senior management by sharing best practices and innovative team collaboration tools.
•	Creating BI Solutions for LOB and Vertical Industries – Drove the creation of new BI solutions focused on specific LOB vertical industry needs based on past successful projects and new ideas triggered by real customer demand, such as Lean Manufacturing BI Scorecard and CRM analytics.

MICROSOFT CORPORATION, Redmond, WA (11/1999 –  5/2005)
Program Manager – Business Process & Integration Group
Product feature ownership role for managing the B2B feature within BizTalk Server, providing a self-service portal for business users based on SharePoint Server and InfoPath forms to enable their interactions directly with BizTalk orchestrations.  End-to-end feature ownership through the product cycle including product planning, specifications, interfacing with engineering, test and user education teams to manage bug tracking, triages, dependencies, milestones, management reporting, product evangelism, value-added partner solutions, etc.  Authored a technical white-paper titled “Introduction to Business Activity Services in BizTalk Server” that was published on Microosft.Com / MSDN.

Program Manager – Industry Solutions Enablement Group (.NET Enterprise Servers Division)
This strategic collaboration role was primarily about architecting innovative vertical solutions for the Industry Solutions Group (worldwide organization) and its synergy with the product groups in Redmond.  Key accomplishments were:
•	Launched a major new BI initiative (sponsored by senior executives) titled Business Intelligence in Vertical Industries.  Conducted a research study of the key verticals for about 3 months with a goal to identify the vertical specific BI needs and pain-points in each industry including the industry specific standards and compliance needs.  Surveyed various Microsoft and external sources including customers, partners, analysts companies specializing in verticals (such as AMR, ARC) and in BI technology (Gartner, Forrester, IDC).  Published the strategic study report (155 pages) within Microsoft, which was highly appreciated globally across the company (including by senior management).
•	Obtained sponsorship and funding based on the BI study and kicked off the Execution Phase of the Vertical BI initiative.  For the potential high ROI opportunities, developed innovative BI solution accelerators with vertical specific KPI Dashboards for industry specific job roles, on MS BI products suite.
•	Served as a key Architect on the global virtual team for the Radio Frequency Id (RFID) initiative, formulating the technology architecture stack of various MS platform products to support several unique business scenarios.  Authored the Architecture section in the larger RFID white-paper published by the virtual team.  Created highly effective slide decks to elaborate the scenarios with the step-by-step process flows and presented them to senior management and top MS executives.  Worked with a large number of partners including RFID hardware/software manufacturers and large Retail industry customers. 
•	Worked with the Retail vertical team on a key strategic opportunity for MS SQL Server platform adoption by a major ISV partner that had challenging performance requirements based on their own SLA’s for their customers to support the advanced replenishment processes.  Worked with the Performance Engineering team in the MS SQL Server product group and hired highly capable consultants to conduct elaborate benchmark testing/tuning.  The benchmark results established linear scalability of the RDBMS engine which conclusively convinced the partner to adopt MS SQL Server as the new platform for their global Retail solutions.
•	Served as featured speaker in many internal and external events presenting technical sessions involving BI/DW, SQL Server, eCommerce and RFID application technologies, including a full featured session at Microsoft TechEd-2004 conference, titled “Real-world Business Intelligence Solutions for Vertical Industries”.
•	Developed a white-paper titled “Architecture Patterns for Business Intelligence Solutions” for MSDN publication, outlining the distinct architectural patterns for BI including KPI Dashboards, Reporting Warehouse, and Real-Time BI solution architectures for specific sets of BI requirements.

Program Manager – CommNet  (.NET Enterprise Servers Division)
This role primarily owned the CommNet system which is a web-based system for conference planning/management and attendee communications that is used to drive the Microsoft premier events including TechEd, Fusion, PDC, MGB, MEC, PDC, etc  The CommNet system contains a sophisticated website and many other custom functional modules running on top of a the Microsoft product stack.  Managed the migration of the entire CommNet legacy system to the new .NET platform with ASP.NET.  After creating and distributing an RFP, evaluated proposals only from top partners and engaged best the vendor via a formal selection process.  Managed the development project with the newly selected partner team of architects, programmers and network engineers to develop a totally .NET based website system within a tight timeframe.  The new CommNet was one of the first public facing Microsoft system on the new .NET platform. 

Senior Consultant – Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) National Practices.
•	Participated on the customer conversion pilot project involving the migration of their Peoplesoft implementation from Oracle/Unix to MS-SQL/Windows 2000 for a major oil company in Texas.
•	Served on the Commerce Server product engineering group in the Data Warehouse/Analytics feature team, managing several tasks including installing daily build’s, scalability testing, MS-Field/ISV/customer interfacing/support, bug reporting,, DW/OLAP design reviews, creating and delivering presentations and demos, disseminating learnings to MCS communities, and providing field feedback to the product team.
•	Created and presented a 400 level full session at the MTB 2000 conference in San Diego, titled “Extending the Commerce Server DW/Analytics” for integrating external ERP/CRM data into the CS click-stream Data Warehouse, leveraging the Commerce OLEDB Provider via ADO.
•	Authored a white-paper on the same topic above, providing prescriptive guidance with fully tested sample code that was published on Microsoft.com / MSDN.
•	Received the Outstanding Contribution award from the Senior VP of MS-US.
•	Served as the key BI consultant for the hands-on development of a very large Data Warehouse solution for the BI prototype POC project (including Cube design & development) for Starbucks Coffee Company.

PEOPLESOFT Inc., Pleasanton, CA (1/98 – 12/99)
Senior Consultant.  As part of the Peoplesoft Consulting Group worked on various Peoplesoft products and technologies including PeopleTools/PeopleCode, Visual Basic/Essbase API, Peoplesoft 3-tier architecture (Tuxedo Transaction Server), product development and related architecture/design/programming,  performance benchmarking & tuning for key Peoplesoft applications on Microsoft SQL Server (in MS SQL product group labs in Redmond), Peoplesoft Application Messaging technology (BEA/Tuxedo Application Server via XML/HTTP), Peoplesoft Financials/Budgets, Enterprise Warehouse and Analytics including some involvement with the Informatics ETL tool to extract data out of Oracle databases on Unix.

BOEING CORPORATION – Commercial Division, Renton, WA   (1/97 – 1/98)
Senior Consultant.  As an external consultant, developed and implemented BI/DW applications for Financial Reporting and Budgeting on SQL Server, Visual Basic, and the Essbase OLAP server with Cube design/development.

NESTLE’ CORPORATION, Glendale, California (7/96 - 12/96)
Contractor/Consultant.  For this large food products manufacturer/retailer, developed Budgeting and Management Reporting/EIS applications based on the Essbase OLAP Server, SQL Server and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

NETBASE COMPUTING Inc., Irvine, California (7/95 - 7/96)
Senior Consultant.   The key projects for this Microsoft/Powersoft solution provider company were:
•	Analysis, architecture and design of an integrated Data Warehousing/OLAP/Reporting solution for a major Shipping company in Long Beach, CA.
•	Architecture/design of an Inventory Reporting sub-system for a major Aerospace client (TRW).  Created a pioneering web based solution using an in-house Web Server to publish production reports viewable in the Internet browser.  (Developed this innovative solution in mid-1995 before the Internet revolution started).
•	In-depth comparative evaluation study of the internal technology features of Oracle and Sybase, for a large enterprise customer making the long term strategic selection decision.

BERGEN BRUNSWIG CORPORATION, Orange County, California (10/92 - 7/95)
System Architect / Project Manager.  Hands-on design, development and implementation of a new integrated financial planning, analysis, budgeting and reporting system for this $8 Billion nationwide distribution company.  Conducted JAD workshops for requirements analysis and data/process and product evaluation/selection.  For this nationwide financials/budgeting system, managed and participated in the system architecture, design/development, Novell network administration and programming in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) with Excel and the Essbase Multi-Dimensional OLAP Server.  Used MS-Project for planning and reporting the project.
 
MCA/ UNIVERSAL STUDIOS INC., Hollywood, California (7/90 - 9/92)
Systems Planning Analyst/Project Manager.   This was a research & development position in enterprise IT.
•	After extensive research, published an in-depth study on Image Processing technology.
•	Acquired and implemented a Project Tracking and Chargeback Accounting System including analysis, product evaluation/selection, application design, development, and implementation, managing a steering committee.

McDONNELL DOUGLAS CORPORATION, Long Beach, California (12/88 – 5/90)
Contractor/Consultant.  Design/programming in the 4GL NOMAD2 DBMS for various DSS applications.

COLUMBIA PICTURES INDUSTRIES, INC., Burbank, California (3/84 – 11/88)
Senior Systems Analyst / Project Manager.  
•	Developed and implemented several applications using NOMAD2, SAS and REVELATION for Legal Files Library Automation system, “What- if” Analysis for media budgeting and many other enterprise applications.
•	Help Desk management and hands-on support of company-wide PC hardware/software, mainframe based Decision Support Systems and Novell LAN implementations.

UNION BANK, Los Angeles, California. (4/82 – 3/84)
Associate Systems Analyst.   Successfully conducted the pioneering implementations of the original IBM PC’s in corporate and branch offices including on-site installations and training across California.  Programmed in various key 4-G/L’s on the IBM mainframe for complex data analysis of various banking systems on the IMS databases.

CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY, Cleveland, Ohio (1981)
M.S. in Operations Research with electives in Information Systems.  
My M.S. Thesis titled “A heuristic branch and bound algorithm for assembly line balancing” was presented at the ORSA/TIMS joint national conference in Toronto, Canada in 1981; which also included the large Fortran program that implemented the heuristic algorithm.  My graduate thesis advisor/professor had certified that “with some minor academic extensions” my thesis would qualify as a doctoral dissertation.  My thesis and the program were also used in a software tool-set package named STORM (Software Tools for Operations Research & Management) used by professionals and academicians (for OR/Quantitative Methods) created and sold by my professor’s software company.
