Recognized by Microsoft for the companys strong involvement in the pioneering of software development for mobile handheld devices. Personally selected by Microsoft as a beta tester for mobile development components that interact with the .NET Framework.

 

Software Development Manager for Bode Technology, managing development of the companys range of diverse software offerings such as high throughput DNA testing, casework analysis, missing person identification, private and CODIS data banking of convicted offenders or arrestees, as well as paternity and non-forensic identification. Software team comprises of six remote senior developers.

 

Lead developer for the nationally recognized Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) software project that is the official means for individuals and businesses to file claims for costs and damages incurred as a result of the BP Gulf Coast oil spill. This system not only manages the submission of claims, but the review and processing of claims by administrators and attorneys for subsequent payment. This custom event driven system is architected using ASP.NET (C#) Web Forms, WCF, and SQL Server 2008.

 

Developed several iPhone applications using Objective-C/XCode and MonoTouch ranging from a car inventory management application for an automobile dealership, an corporate in-house executive dashboard for reporting financial and HR information, and a baseball scorecard application.

 

Successfully architected and implemented a service-oriented architecture (SOA) system of enterprise level applications for the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) as part of a $1 million Pretreatment Information Management System (PIMS) upgrade. This overall system provided the ability for industrial customers to efficiently report required wastewater self-monitoring results, dynamically generate discharge permit applications and automate the generation of hundreds of permit documents based on configurable business rules. This system is architected using ASP.NET (C#) web applications and services, Oracle 10g, and a custom notification and message system.

 

Instrumental in performing Microsoft SharePoint Server installations, administration and maintenance for several clients. Developed dozens of custom SharePoint web parts to achieve specific business objectives. Designed internal organizational workflow and document management services using the Windows SharePoint Services foundation.

 

Senior software consultant for a major upgrade of a policy and claims software system for Markel Insurances Small Boat program. System is architected as an enterprise level n-tier service-oriented application (SOA) using C#, SQL Server 2005, and a custom developed message brokering system.

 

As a Project Leader for Siemens VDO Automotive, responsible for the conversion of several mainframe-based software applications to an object-oriented SQL Server/.NET (C#, VB.NET) infrastructure during a tight 12 month schedule following an acquisition with DaimlerChrysler. Conversion process included an extensive analysis of existing systems, along with the planning, design, and development of the replacement systems. Worked in direct contact with the corporate Siemens VDO Automotive center in Regensburg, Germany to ensure that proposed software solutions adhered to corporate manufacturing process policy. 

 

Lead software developer for a 5,000-user web-based benefits enrollment application developed in ASP.NET (VB.NET) for Landmark Communications, Inc. Co-authored the technical documentation for all stages of the projects lifecycle.

 

Senior software developer instrumental in the design and development of a corporate system to track and report on the result of various medical testing procedures.  The test results are imported from numerous external facilities and the data is made available to end-users via a custom application.  The application was developed using an n-tier model, with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 as the RDBMS.  The client application made use of several technologies including COM, Microsoft Transaction Server, Crystal Reports, and Visual Basic.

 

While consulting as a senior analyst for a multi-state health care provider, Amerigroup Corporation, responsible for the re-engineering of the corporations Java based claims and encounters processing application. Also, recognized for the successful development of numerous software modifications to the existing claims processing applications using Visual Basic 6.0, SQL Server 2000, and Perl. These modifications were responsible in eliminating errors during the processing of claims to the government, thereby presenting a cost savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

 

Designed and developed configurable high performance data synchronization utilities for Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. Technologies used include XML, XSLT, Perl and Visual Basic. These utilities process multiple data sources including text files, AS/400 mainframe data, and XML web services.

 

Designed enterprise-level reports using Crystal Reports 8.5 for the corporate help desk department of Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. These reports took advantage of the advanced functionality of Crystal Reports by incorporating complex programmatic functions and conditional formatting.

 

Created a wide range of solutions from games to sales management and inventory applications for the Pocket PC handheld unit using the latest Microsoft .NET technology. Languages used include VB.NET and C#.

 

Bode Technology (March 2011 – March 2013)

Software Development Manager

Managed a team of five software engineers responsible for development of in-house and commercial DNA laboratory information management systems (LIMS), profile matching and collection software. Act as liaison to global clientele, namely foreign governments, for providing global support of the commercial software. Recognized for quickly upgrading software under tight deadlines from outdated VB6 and MS Excel VBA projects to professional ASP.NET and WPF enterprise systems. Responsible for adaptation and enforcement of a software development lifecycle, which did not previously exist.

 

Newport News Shipbuilding (February 2000 – June 2001)

Software Developer

Instrumental in the design and implementation of several projects using various Microsoft development tools, COM components, and custom designed ActiveX controls. These projects have been recognized as saving the company countless man-hours in analyzing and annotating flaws in budget estimates, production hours, and corporate expenditures.

 

Lead developer in a team effort that designed a departmental Visual Basic based application (>90 users) in a client-server environment to automatically generate various technical work documents based on user input. Recognized for enforcing a normalized relational database with outstanding documentation of the source code and program logic.

Designed, developed, and maintained several small business applications for accounting, production, production planning and cost accounting. Development tools used include Visual Basic 6.0, VBA, Crystal Reports 7.0, MS Excel, MS Access, Pervasive SQL, and Btrieve.

 

The sole programmer in the factory, responsible for designing all miscellaneous programs and data reports. Utilizing the Crystal Reports COM component, MS Excel, along with Visual Basic, have been successful in integrating these separate programs into stand-alone applications.
