Consulting Experience

Fieldprint  – Mount Laurel, NJ (March 2016 to Sept 2016)

Developer

As a member of a sprint team I coded and designed new applications and modified existing applications for FBI background check scheduling and processing.  Fieldprint is an extremely security conscience organization and coding often required managing encryption, certificates and secure coding techniques.  For example, I used the Checkmarx product to identify and correct code security flaws via static code analysis.  I upgraded many of their applications from earlier versions of Visual Studio to VS 2015.

Technology

Radius – Plymouth Meeting, PA (Jan 2016 to March 2016)

Developer

Radius collects outstanding debts for financial institutions and other clients.  This assignment required automating customer lists and debt history data transfers to and from clients via FTP and SFTP.  I used SSIS to schedule and orchestrate data transfers.

Capital One – Wilmington, DE (Aug 2014 to Dec 2015)

Developer

As a member of a sprint team I coded new features for a loan origination system, maintained existing code and participated in Agile ceremonies. For every new method I wrote I also wrote a unit test using TypeMock.  I estimated story tasks and created custom reports for the Version One Agile Management software.

Mentor

Assisted new developers in complex configuration of the loan origination development environment, including software installation and configuration, certificate installation, and navigating the permission request process.  Maintained environment installation and configuration documentation.  Assisted business analysts in writing technical aspects of software requirements (stories).

Designer

I designed several utilities that allowed business analysts access to certain loan origination setup data to assist them in writing requirements and understanding the existing configuration.  I designed DDL logging feature for software used to automatically sync individual developer databases with the master development database.

ARI – Mount Laurel, NJ (Apr 2013 to Aug 2014)

Troubleshooter

Existing production WinForm software was crashing after several hours of use.  I was engaged to determine and correct the cause of the crashes.  Using RedGate ANTS Memory Profiler I determined the cause of the crashes to be memory leaks and modified 170 classes, implementing a dispose pattern to eliminate the memory leaks.

Designer/Mentor

The same production software required a new insurance module.  I designed the insurance module using object oriented techniques, SOLID principles and weak events.  I used this opportunity to train employees and consultants on the causes of memory leaks and showed how a weak event system and proper disposal patterns could be used to prevent future memory leaks.  I developed and documented a new design pattern which was applied to the insurance module and was intended to be a model for fixing existing code and development of future models.  Elimination of duplicate code and code reuse were main features of the design pattern.

Health Advocate - Plymouth Meeting, PA (Oct 2012 to Apr 2013)

Developer

During the course of this engagement I identified architectural design flaws, recommended solutions and implemented design changes to ensure a robust call center application. I created custom WPF controls for portions of the application for which WinForm composite controls were not practical.  I used a code profiler to optimize performance and eliminate memory leaks.

ARI – Mount Laurel, NJ (Sept 2011 to Oct 2012)

Mentor

I was engaged to provide application design and developer training using the DevExpress tool suite for WinForm applications.  I provided guidance in extending controls, implementing custom properties and methods and advanced form layout techniques, including the use of two monitors.

Technology

Agile, c#, WinForm, Dev Express, Oracle 11g, VS2010

INGDirect (now Capital One) – Wilmington DE (Feb 2010 to Aug 2011)

Developer

As part of an Agile development team, I followed the vendor’s MVC design pattern to implement modifications to forms and logic.  The loan origination system was a commercial product with extensible features that required back-door programming skills to modify forms for which the source code was not available.  Participated in Agile daily standups, grooming sessions, planning, and retrospectives.

iRely – Moorestown NJ (Jan 2004 to Feb 2010)

Project Manager

I was engaged to select an off-the-shelf warehouse management system to be utilized by three tea packaging companies (Harris Tea, Southern Tea and Harris-Freeman).  After analyzing the current warehouse processes and requirements, I assessed 30 different warehouse management systems, narrowing the list down to three vendors.  I conducted vendor interviews, software trials and evaluations before deciding on the final selection.  I supervised the implementation of the software in the three warehouses and worked with the vendor to implement customizations and resolve bugs.

The warehouse management system needed to interface to the existing MES and ERP systems.  This was accomplished by evaluating and selecting middleware software (Boomi) to perform rule based data transformations between the three systems.

Developer

Despite the extensive use of commercial software, gaps still existed in interfacing with various vendors and customers.  I developed an ASP.Net web application allow remote raw material shipping location to provide ASN information which was integrated into the ERP and WMS software.

Mentor

The tea company management want to diversify the business by taking their knowledge of commodity trading, manufacturing and distribution to form an IT company (iRely).  I trained an offshore team in the development of WinForm applications and the use of 3rd party controls.  I also introduced the Agile Scrum methodology to the offshore team.

iRely Commercial Software

The offshore team, under my guidance, developed commercial WMS and MES software products.

Data Acquisition

As part of an initiative to increase productivity on the tea packing lines, I designed and installed data acquisition hardware and software using Opto 22 SNAP components.  This system monitored line stoppages, recorded reason for the stoppage and measured output.

Growth through Acquisition

In addition to expanding into commercial software, iRely wanted to achieve faster growth in the commodities software market through the acquisition of established companies involved in the trading and distribution of commodities.  I assisted in this effort by evaluating the technology of potential acquisition targets.

Education

Upon graduation from Atlantic City High School I enrolled in college but my education was interrupted by the military draft.  After completing 6 years of active duty in the United States Air Force I resumed my education at a local community college on the GI bill.  By this time I had 3 children and a full time job and by attending school at night over several years I obtained two associate degrees, one in Business Administration and one in Computer science via the GI Bill.

In the Air Force I received specialized training in Aircraft Maintenance (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems) and in Closed Circuit Television Maintenance (Analog and Digital Electronics).  It was my military experience and training that allowed me to transition to jobs in industrial control, data acquisition and computer programming.

I had other employment experiences and training but in having persevered in reading to this point you probably find this resume too long already.   Thank you for your consideration.
