Contract Projects (1981 – 2002):

FOCUS system maintenance on UNIX. Maintained, upgraded, and productionized Dennys’ POS restaurant data gathering and distribution system

Essbase Analyzer and CLEAR:Access system administration for Dennys’ Hyperion Analyzer and CLEAR:access tools

Y2k Decommissioning CMS, MVS/TSO, AS400, and other platforms with many databases and applications. Found applications on the various platforms used by UCC, determined with the users which apps had data that needed retention, Extracted that data to archive tapes from various platforms, applications and databases, then helped the users test the extracted and retained data for accuracy using Crystal Reports. This was all in preparation for decommissioning Union Carbide’s IBM Mainframe and other platforms.

Early Morning Production Support for Schwab's Capital Market & Trading group. MVS/TSO Mostly JCL, PROCs, SYNCSORT, and FOCUS. Some Y2K. Worked offsite from home 2am-8am, called customers when things were late, expedited late jobs, and fixed production problems.

Production Support for Schwab's Decision Support System. MVS/TSO, Mostly JCL and PROCs. Served as hotline support person when necessary. Developed a major improvement for Electronic Brokerage (Web Quotes).

Production Support for Intel’s Semiconductor Manufacturing Planning/Scheduling system. MVS/TSO. Implemented process changes, served as real-time on-call support person when necessary.

Maintained and improved systems built at my previous stay at TI. Also did maintenance on Semiconductor Manufacturing Planning/Scheduling system. MVS/TSO FOCUS

Maintained and improved a Sprint Customer Call Tracking System. VM/CMS FOCUS

Did a complete redesign and rewrite of a Railroad Labor Relations Index system, a tracking and research system for Labor Claims. MVS/TSO Mainframe and PC FOCUS.

Produced reports from existing T.I. IC Chip design tracking databases. Created and maintained new databases for complex semiconductor prototype devicedesign status tracking and reporting. Trained users in FOCUS. MVS/TSO

Moved and converted Pearle Vision FOCUS programs from CMS to MVS/TSO. Trained users in FOCUS and MVS/TSO

Debugged and enhanced Human Resources system for UTL using Multi-user PCFOCUS. Trained users in PCFOCUS.

Enhanced T.I. computerized facilities estimating, cost engineering and scheduling systems and developed a facilities uniforms tracking system using FOCUS. Trained users in FOCUS. MVS/TSO
Also estimated and scheduled facilities work.

Served as liaison between ARCO and the consultants developing the ARCO Cost Engineering System using ARTEMIS. Then developed a replacement system using PCFOCUS when their system failed acceptance testing.

As Senior Estimator, Verified contractors' estimates for bids and change orders, computerized the estimating and project progress report systems on Barrow Utilities System, Susitna Hydroelectric Project, and Municipalities project.

As Cost Engineer, Prepared computerized estimates for medium to large general construction projects ($1-100 million). Work included hotels, motels, office buildings and hospitals.

As Cost/Scheduling Engineer, Maintained Engineering & Purchasing project schedules. Estimated/prepared change orders. Prepared monthly cost reports and monthly project progress report books. Project size approximately $5 million - Shell Petroleum Development Co. of Nigeria Ltd. Oben & Bomu Gas Plants.

Pre - Contracting Work History

Beckman Construction Company, Inc., (Fort Worth, Texas) 1980 - 1981
Construction Estimator: General Construction bid estimates from material through overhead and profit. Used both manual and computerized methods. Project sizes: $3 to $17 million.

The Randall Corporation, (Houston, Texas) 1979 - 1980
General Construction Estimator: Responsible for project estimates including all costs, direct and indirect, on modular skid-mounted gas processing plants. Project sizes: $500K to $5 million.

Brown & Root, Inc., (Houston, Texas) 1976 - 1979
Cost Engineer II: Provided computerized management reports, using Mark IV to customize, streamline and cut costs on project cost reports. Assisted Estimating Department with cost trend projections, and made field trips to assist projects in implementing new computerized change order procedures and budget updates.
Electrical Estimator: Performed electrical estimates on power plants. Developed computer programs for cost trend analysis/projections. Project size $35 to $135 million.
Electrical Designer: Electrical design and layout on petrochemical and power plant projects.

Fluor Engineering & Construction, Inc., (Houston, Texas) 1974
Electrical Designer: Design and drafting for Aramco Gas Liquification while on loan from C.E. Lummus, Inc.

C.E. Lummus, Inc. (Houston, Texas) 1972 - 1976
Electrical Designer: Lighting design in utilities area of Arco Refinery, Baytown. Conceptual plot layouts for inland collection center for the Seadock Deepwater Port.

Texas Instruments, Inc., (Dallas, Texas) 1967 - 1968
553 Programmer: Analyzed radar circuit modules through the component level, then wrote programs for static and dynamic testing for each component and subsystem.
Electronic Engineering Technician: Determined and implemented engineering corrections to recurrent production problems on the Shrike Missile Program. Developed a component level incoming QC procedure that drastically reduced the Shrike Missile Guidance System final product failure rate. It had been 80% failures and my new procedure reduced that to a 20% failure rate.

Cosar, Inc. (Garland, Texas) 1966 - 1968
Electronic Engineering Technician: Designed, purchased, and built electronic equipment for sale and for in-house use. Did prototype construction for manufacturing line. Researched reed relay bounce characteristics and subsequently developed what was at the time the world's smallest and fastest reed relays.
