I design and implement OO GUIs using the X Window System, OSF/Motif, and Java/Swing on Unix based platforms in C, C++, and Java. I use a strong Patterns based approach to the architecture and design as much as possible. As for implementation, I can code applications by hand as well as using GUI builders and prefer to do so. I get many requirements for unusual features and dynamic behavior and I find the builder approach can be inflexible and substantially more work than simply doing it by hand. I firmly believe that there is no substitute for knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. My platforms of choice are Silicon Graphics and Sun Microsystems because of the clean user interface and the superior software development tools, which are case studies in good Human Computer Interface design.

I have 16+ years of software development experience, the last 8 of which have been developing GUIs on Unix platforms (SGI, Sun, DEC Alpha). I have been developing X/Motif GUIs for the past 6 years. I have also designed and implemented several Xt based custom Widgets and have the capability to do this level of work.
