PeopleSoft Development |
Developed PLSQL scripts
emulating SQR reports to port from CIS to CC&B using Business
Objects. Developed and executed
scripts to convert financial data from Fiscal Year to Calendar Year
structures. Developed reporting
structures and strategies for Utility company. Developed Conversion scripts and
Interface programs to be used to convert or interface data between Legacy
systems and PS CIS. Supported 26
Government Higher Education databases utilizing Budget and Encumbrance
management of full acquisition lifecycle. Developed scripts to adjust Pre
Encumbrances and Encumbrances to correct amounts and chartfields for Year End
closing of 30 Colleges and Universities.
Developed customizations using Application Designer, COBOL,
Application Engine, SQR, Crystal
and Application Messaging requested by Purchasing, Distribution,
Project Costing, AR/Billing, AP, GL, Project Costing, Inventory, and HR
customers, to include system modifications and workflow. Customized
Application Engine and COBOL code, as well as Mass Change to meet the
specific needs of the customer. These include PO Build, Item Loader, AP
Matching, Posting, Putaway, Replenishment, AutoShip, AutoPick, and Depletion.
Developed interface programs and procedures to migrate data between systems,
including AP and Configured and installed
Multi-Lingual and Multi-Currency versions and modifications for International
company. Worked with native
speakers to translate custom panels, data, and reports. Modified delivered, and wrote new, SQR
programs, to customize, provide new functionality, as well as address
delivered shortcomings. These included reports, importing/exporting data, and
table setups. In addition, heavily customized delivered interface programs
for client complexities and requirements, including AR to BI, AP to BI,
Legacy to BI, and Custom BI to delivered BI. They served a number of purposes
from straightforward reporting to loading data to validation and updating of
existing data, as well as archiving off data that was no longer necessary on
the database to improve performance while keeping the archived data available
for historic purposes. Also assisted others in designing, writing and
troubleshooting of SQRs. Wrote, modified and troubleshoot JCL to run various
batch jobs. Performed analysis of
prior modifications and PeopleSoft methodologies to determine how best to
remove customizations and bring customer back to vanilla PeopleSoft, while
maintaining required functionality and flexibility. Tuned various processes to perform
faster, including PeopleCode, Application Engine, and COBOL. Evaluated the feasibility of
developing a custom Application Engine program to replace Item Loader.
Developed Import Manager profiles to import various sets of data into
specific tables. These profiles were developed using PeopleCode attached to
the import records specifically for the import that validated data and
returned context-specific error messages. In addition, to overcome Import
Manager limitations, wrote code that allowed Import Manager to execute
inserts and other operations on tables other than the single table allowed by
Import Manager. Developed procedures for loading base tables through the use
of Data Transfer In/Out and Import Manager. Configured Mass Changes to
perform various tasks, including granting access to back-end SQL access without
having to grant back-end SQL access, and providing back-out procedures for
reversing imported data. Configured and trained users on the use of Item
Loader for bulk loading Purchasing items. Evaluated Application Engine code
to determine best method of attaining specific goals set out by customization
requirements. Consulted with other developers to assist in determining the
best technical methodology for specific tasks. Provided technical
documentation and end-user demos to evaluate alternative ways of achieving
desired goals, ranking them by desirability based on development effort
required. Provided Level of Effort documentation for various customizations
requested by users. Developed Excel macros to simulate nVision without the
performance limitations of the delivered tool. Set up Virtual Approver in
the Business Process Designer and Workflow Administrator for workflow
customizations, as well as connectivity with Lotus Notes for approval from
non-PS users using PSNotes connectivity. Developed methodology of testing
using SQA Robot, then trained developers in the use and procedures, to
include naming nomenclature to ensure solid documentation. Worked as liaison
to Purchasing, Inventory, and Accounting customers to define tasks,
resources, prioritization, and scheduling for deliverables. This includes
assisting customers in determining feasibility of requirements in light of
the possibility of altering procedures to make more efficient use of the
system, and more reliable customizations. Performed troubleshooting of COBOL
programs to determine whether code or customizations were causing specific
problems. Designed and maintained PeopleCode modifications as well as
troubleshooting delivered code. Customized and maintained nVision and |

Installation and Administration |
Installed and maintained
Oracle database, with Financials and HR applications, including Application
server (Tuxedo), Process Schedulers, and Web Server (Weblogic). This included setting up and tuning
PIA and PeopleBooks search. Managed staff responsible
for Purchasing customizations targeted as Phase II, after initial
installation, as well as initial installation of Accounts Receivable and
Billing. Part of a 15-person team that installed PS 6.0 Accounts Payable and
Purchasing in 6 months, while upgrading PS GL from 5.1 to 6.0. Concurrently
worked on a separate team of 8 that installed PS HR 6.01 in 10 months. Configured
and set up infrastructure of all PS systems to allow consistency in product
development cycle and production support. System platform included Oracle on
UNIX servers, Novell file servers, and NT/Windows 95 workstations. Designed
security administration and configuration management procedures in Object and
Operator Security as well as trained staff to manage these procedures. Worked with various functional teams
to determine best methodology for managing and tracking data. Designed and implemented
Lotus Notes database to track recurring problems, PS patch implementations,
and development requests. This system tracked these items through all
environments up to production and reduced time spent on implementation of
these tasks. In addition, the database stored all development documentation
in standardized format. Routinely reviewed patches on PS Customer Connection
to identify potential need. Then, worked with all teams to determine need and
scheduling/implementation of said patches. Managed and implemented upgrades,
both Tools and Functional, using Data Mover, Application Upgrader, and
upgrade documentation from the Customer Connection and installation CDs. In addition, wrote other programs
(SQR, Application Engine, etc.) to convert customer data to new record
layouts. Installed and
configured the Application Server, Tuxedo and the Web Server. Worked closely with other
administrative groups, such as Network Administration, Server Management, Web
Master, Access Management, Data Security, Technology Risk Management and
Production Readiness to ensure that the PeopleSoft implementations complied
with CIS policies and requirements for reliability, compatibility and Year
2000 compliance and beyond. Managed Test Lab resources to ensure that all
upgrades and third party software meet CIS standards. |

functional training without formal PeopleSoft training. Directly managed up
to 30 individuals. Supported systems activities and provided front-line

installed, and administered several Local Area Networks (LANs), ranging from
6 to 3000 users, spread throughout the country. Installed and configured LAN
with System Fault Tolerance Level III. Installed and maintained an isolated
LAN (for security), that is solely for accounting purposes. Maintained
secure, highly confidential LAN systems on the Senate Floor for information
retrieval. Implemented disaster recovery program that provides means of
recovering from a potential disaster through hardware and software
redundancy, as well as off-site backup storage. Served as member of team
assigned to re-design WAN communication base to meet the requirements for
proposed future systems growth for the following 10 years. |

Analysis |
Defined, configured and
managed Materials Management, Financial and Human Resource application
security for life cycle from development phase through production. Ensured
compliance to defined standards from developers, support personnel, as well
as end-users. Designed and produced methods of allowing access and
administrative flexibility, while maintaining integrity and security of
overall WAN environments. Investigated the feasibility and reliability of
various security methods, hardware, and software with the ultimate goal of
implementing C2 compliance. Designed a security system that is acceptable,
from a secure point of view as well as user acceptance. Performed risk
