Professional Overview

I have been an international software developer for 6 years doing independent and team software design and development. Projects have ranged from Canadian, USA,  and African development projects. I have a strong base of experience including teaching, electrical/electronics installation and design. I am an excellent communicator and work well with people of all levels and abilities, and at times have been responsible for overseeing as many as 8 employees.

Project History

 

Rogers Cable Inc, Toronto – Development/Design - 2005 - Current

Remote tracking of required employee training. System to monitor required and additional training for employees. Included extensive cross database interaction to link employees by manager, region, and employee hierarchy with muliti level searching capabilities for reporting purposes as well as chronological scripts to notify of triggered events. Developed in PHP, MySql, HTML, and JavaScript.

 

Trade Business Forms Inc, Vancouver – Development/Design - 2004 – Current

Online layout and ordering website for printing wholesale company. Multilevel project included admin access to create and maintain database info. This included Client level ordering, Broker access to verify, approve, and manage orders. The project also involved managing orders from placement through printing to shipping and client feedback for order status and tracking purposes. Project is ongoing as custom modules are occasionally required for new clients. Developed in PHP, MySql, HTML, and JavaScript.

 

EC Dynamics Inc, Toronto -  Development  2003

Custom vehicle import software. Software created with DOT approval to manage/eliminate  paperwork associated with importing and exporting  vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations. System also handled quotation and estimation for vehicle broker. Developed in C++ and FoxPro.

 

Advanced Microcomputer Systems Inc, Pompano Beach, USA – Development- 2003

            IC footprint layout and design. Module for existing electronic circuit layout testing and design software. Module allowed the user to custom design a footprint and specify all parameters associated with an IC. Which was then used in the software for design and testing purposes. Developed in C++.

 

Advanced Microcomputer Systems Inc, Pompano Beach, USA – Development- 2002

            Royalty Calculation software. Windows based software for book distributor to calculate royalties for book authors based on particular contract specifications for individual authors. Also tracked all information pertinent to these calculations. Developed in C++.

 

Advanced Microcomputer Systems Inc, Pompano Beach, USA - Development 2001

            Stock Monitoring software. Windows based software for tracking and analysis of stock information. Developed in C++.

 

Agra Shawmont, Harare Zimbabwe – Design/Development 2001

            Helped Design and team developed a Palm Pilot based remote data capture application to be used throughout southern African countries for energy monitoring and conservation training purposes. Developed in Palm OS and  C.

 

Additional Software

 

STEP Solutions, Kelowna BC – Design/Development 2005-Current

            Currently developing web based scheduling and time management software. Including project management, time tracking, and event notification. Developed in PHP, MySql, HTML, and JavaScript.

 

STEP Solutions, Kelowna BC – Design/Development 2000

            Developed a freeware Japanese number puzzle creator. This software was developed for training purposes and as a hobby. Developed in C++.

 

Additional Experience

Keldon Electric Inc, Kelowna BC - 1994-2001

            Journeyman Electrician. Entered  the electrical trade in 1989, obtained Journeyman qualification in September 1996. Experience included PLC systems programming and design, installation of various automated systems, airport traffic control towers, as well as foreman and sub-foreman on various commercial and residential construction projects.

 

Sovran Energy Inc, Oyama BC - Manager Manufacturing/Maintenance 1995-Current

            Solar Power Distress Phone (SPDT)  manufacturing and installation. Helped design and manufactured SPDT’s for use in remote locations where power or telephone lines do not exist.

 

Berlitz Language Schools, Osaka Japan - 1999-2000

            English teacher. Taught conversational English full time to business professionals in Japan. Lessons were both at the school as well as offsite lessons at company locations.  Was also involved in  the TCO action team and training as a  head teacher.

 

 

Secondary Education

Journeyman electrician. Qualification received September 1996.
